This last bit of nonsense about franchise
fees is nothing more than a road tax. Please call it that. Over the last 42 years we have seen our sandy street become a
blacktopped street, seal coated, dug up and replaced and seal coated again. All of this was paid for by notifying us what
our cost would be and how long we had to pay for it. That seemed to be a good program. Perhaps, our city government
has overextended itself, like all government, and expects the citizens to pick up the shortfall within their
budgets. Maybe our city should make a budget and when the money is gone quit spending. There are ways that the
Ramsey Council can cut some of the fat out of the budget and make ends meet just like the rest of us have to do. $16.00
a month doesn't sound like much unless you are on a fixed income and the utilities you want to tax us on are constantly
going higher and higher. Please reconsider this fee as it will strongly affect a lot of people in your city.
1
