Work Session Utilizing Tree Preservation Ordinance Software

It was reported that not all of the persons involved in this task force could open the software
interview questions that Pro-Source Technologies had forwarded by email. It was determined
that those persons that were having problems did not have Acrobat Reader on their computers.
Committee members were advised that they could obtain Acrobat Reader on the intemet at no
charge.

Chairperson McDilda volunteered to send some sample documents by e-mail so that the
members could be sure that Acrobat Reader was up and running.

It was agreed that all committee members should be copied on transmittals between members.

Mr. Max read a document generated by the U.S. Conference of Mayors which basically
recommended that the U.S. Congress provide for full funding of $50 million for the Forest
Service's Urban and Community Forestry Program in Fiscal Year 2003.

Discussion ensued regarding the June 20 minutes and the consensus was that there should be
formal approval of the minutes. Ms. Frolik was directed to e-mail drafts of the minutes to all
Committee Members for review and corrections. The minutes should then be placed on the next
available agenda for approval. The June 20 minutes will be on a subsequent agenda for
approval.

Erika Sitz noted that the copies of the Plymouth Tree Preservation Ordinance that were
distributed at the last meeting were incomplete. Ms. Sitz volunteered to obtain the full ordinance
and forward it to Sylvia Frolik for copying and distribution at the July 1 meeting.

Mr. McDilda presented the members with copies of a timetable he drafted relating to presenting
an ordinance to City Council for adoption. The committee proceeded to review the timetable.

The consensus was that when the ordinance is drafted, it should be reviewed with the Park
Commission, Planning Commission, City Council and developers prior to setting the public
hearing date. It was agreed that this public information meeting would be in addition to the
formal public hearing.

Discussion ensued regarding whether or not the tree preservation ordinance should be in Chapter
9 (Zoning and Subdivision Chapter) of City Code or in a section of its own. Consensus was that
the Tree Ordinance should have a separate section in City Code.
