Rnatikkn, Cily Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Reccntly, tile Cit;' has received a number of proposed plats to be developed in tile urban area. <br />Currently, the Ci[v of Ramsey required street width is sixty-six feet (66') to facilitate placement of <br />utilities, ditches and slopes ~ypically associmed x,..ifl~ a rural street section. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />On July 10, 1989, lhe Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission directed the Ciiy Engineer to <br />supply a report reviewing cul-de-sac design standards. <br /> <br />On July 25. 1989, the Ramsev Cir,, council directed the City Engineer to review street right-of-way <br />widths in other communities and requested the Planning and Zoning Commission to provide <br />recommendations back to Ci~,,' Council. <br /> <br />On August 1, 1989. the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission tabled review of this case. <br /> <br />On September 19, 1989, the Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission recommended <br />changing minor street widths from sixty-six feet (66') down to sixty feet (60') and relainin~ sixty- <br />si>: foot (66') wide right-of-ways for minor streets in urban subdivisions which will require a street <br />width greater than thirty-one feet (31'). <br /> <br />On October 24, 1989, the Ramsey City Council directed staff to draft an ordinance amendment that <br />would reduce minor street right-of-way standards to sixty feet (60'), include language that will <br />clearly define minor streets. <br /> <br />On January 9, 1990, the Ramsey City Council introduced Ordinance #90-__ amending the street <br />portion of the Su't:division Chapter of the Ramsey City Code. <br /> <br />Recommendations: <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Ordinance #90- amending Section t70.32 INTERPRETATION <br />ANT) SCOPE: 21 STREETS and Section 170.083C STREETS. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt/not adop~ Ordinance #90- amending Section i70.32 INWERPRETATION AND <br />SCOPE: 2!
