POSITION TITLE: <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br />City Engineer <br /> <br />(3/9O) <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT: Engineering <br /> <br />POSITION TITLE OF <br />IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: City Administrator <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br /> <br />To provide overall planning and direction to an Engineering Department whose objective is <br />design, planning, administration, construction and inspection that will insure sound <br />development, maintenance and service of public infrastructure consistent with Council <br />policy and with Federal and State regulations. <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />A. Plan and coordinate a comprehensive public works, maintenance and inspection program. <br />B. Establish and recommend overall goals for the Engineering Department. <br />C. Provide professional engineering counsel. <br />D. Establish an Engineering Department to meet the needs of the City. <br />E. Develop and prepare a capital improvements program. <br />F. Develop, prepare and recommend an EngineedPublic Works budget program. <br />G Establish and maintain a computer based mapping system. <br />H. Establish design and maintenance standards for all engineering projects. <br />I. Function as a liaison and advisor for the City. <br />J. Perform a wide variety of tasks at the verbal or written direction of the <br /> Administrator. <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />TASKS RELATED TO RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />Plan and coordinate a comprehensive public works, maintenance and inspection program. <br />1. Assure the required services are being provided at the highest quality level, on a sound <br /> business basis consistent with the Council policy and with Federal and State <br /> regulations. <br />2. Administer policies of the Department so as to provide fair and impartial services to <br /> levels established by the City Council. <br /> <br />Establish and recommend overall goals of the Engineering Department. <br />1. Insure the highest level of service is being provided at the most favorable cost to the <br /> public. <br />2. Participate with the City Administrator and other City Officials in determining overall <br /> policy and direction for the City where such policy affects the public works programs <br /> and public infrastructure. <br /> <br />105 <br /> <br /> <br />
