CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 11/12/2013 <br />Submitted For: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services <br />By: Kathy Schmitz, Administrative Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Report from Personnel Committee - October 15, 2013 <br />Ratify the recommendations of the Personnel Committed with the following actions: <br />1. Discussion Regarding 2014 Non -union Wages and City Health Insurance Contributions <br />2. Resolution to Replace the Duties Left Vacant by the Fire Marshal <br />3. Resolution to Accept a Paid -on -call Firefighter's Resignation <br />4. 14. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The Personnel Committee met on October 15, 2013 to consider the three cases listed above. The purpose of this <br />report is as follows: <br />Case 1 of 3: No action needed, this case will come back to the Personnel Committee at another meeting and will <br />include a non -union market wage study and any other new related data that may be available. <br />Case 2 of 3: No Action needed, this case will be brought back to the Personnel Committee on November 12, 2013, <br />and will appear on the next "Report from the Personnel Committee" -- on the regular agenda, November 12, 2013. <br />Case 3 of 3: To accept a Paid -on -call Firefighter's Resignation. <br />Notification: <br />The Personnel Committee agenda, minutes and resolutions are attached. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />None. <br />Funding Source: <br />Funding Source as stated at the 10-15-13 Personnel Committee meeting; note, cases 1 and 2 were continued <br />to a future Personnel Committee meeting. <br />Case 1 of 3: <br />The preliminary 2014 budget has accounted for a 2.5% non -union COLA and the health insurance increases. Note: <br />The difference between a 2% increase and a 2.5% increase is about $6000 per year. <br />Case 2 of 3: <br />The anticipated 2014 funding required for this position is approximately $89,346 -- this is only an estimate based <br />on a hiring range of less than a mid -point. The Fire Marshal's position (2014 wages) was budgeted at $104,174. <br />Case 3 of 3: <br />No funding source needed. <br />Recommendation: <br />
