MEMORANDUM

Councilmembers

FROM:

Sandra Ashley, Finance Officer

DATE:

July 2, 1990

STREET LIGHTS INSTALLED AT:
167TH AND ZIRCONIUM STREET (RAMSEY LIGHT #7)
167TH AND COQUINA STREET (RAMSEY LIGHT #8)

On April 2, 1990 the above street lights were installed by Anoka
Electric Cooperative. At the last council meeting we processed an
invoice from AEC for monthly service for these two lights and it was
asked that staff follow up to determine what agreement the City has
regarding these two street lights.

Today I spoke to a representative from AEC and was advised they
had installed these lights for demonstration purposes, and the
installation costs have been deferred by AEC until such time as the
City establishes its street light policy and orders additional lights.
The installation for the above two lights will be $380.00 each. AEC
does not have a specific time frame in which these issues need to be
addressed by the City; however, AEC does have an expectation that
the City will accept these two lights as permanent City assets at some
point in the future.

Enclosed is a copy of a memo from Peter Raatikka to the P & Z
Commission dated March 7, 1989 which details the street light
options and cost for the City of Ramsey. I have asked AEC to confirm
their current prices to the City and this file will be turned over to Mr.
Steven Jankowski, our new City Engineer, for his review.
