SECTION 07900 <br />SEALANTS & CAULKING <br />PART 1- GENERAL <br />1.1 DESCRIPTION <br />A. Work included: Provide all materials, equipment, and labor necessary to prepare <br />surfaces and install sealant as shown on the Drawings, as specified herein, and as <br />needed for a complete and proper installation. <br />B. Related work: <br />1. Documents affecting work of this Section include, but are not necessarily <br />limited to, General Conditions, Supplementary Conditions, and Sections <br />in Division 1 of these Specifications. <br />1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Use adequate numbers of skilled workers who are thoroughly trained and <br />experienced in the necessary crafts and who are completely familiar with the <br />specified requirements and the methods needed for proper performance of the <br />work of this Section. <br />B. Compatibility with substrate: Applicator shall be responsible for verifying that <br />sealants used are compatible with joint substrate. <br />C. Mock-ups: The Contractor may be required, at the Owner's option, to install <br />sealant in mock-ups prepared by other trades in order to demonstrate appearance <br />and workmanship technique. Such mock-ups should be done by those personnel <br />who will be assigned to the project, using materials and techniques which will be <br />used on the project. <br />D. Joint tolerance: Joint width/depth ratios are critical to sealant performance. <br />Compliance with the manufacturers limitation is required. <br />E. Manufacturer: The manufacturer of the sealant used shall have been in the <br />business of manufacturing the specified types of such sealant for not less than ten <br />years. <br />1.3 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Comply with pertinent provisions of Section 01340. <br />B. Product literature: Submit 3 copies of product data sheets and the <br />manufacturer's installation instructions. If two or more different sealants ar to be <br />in physical contact with each other (such as a parapet joint and reglet intersection, <br />obtain from each manufacturer confirmation that their product is compatible with <br />07900-1 <br />
