The AHDVCTF prioritized heroin and opiate cases and ,worked in <br />conjunction with the DEA (and FPD!) on an extensive investigation on a major ring that was tied <br />into Chicago as the direct source. This was taken down but other drug networks quickly filled the <br />gap. We have worked together Countywide to develop Prescription Drug Take Back locations <br />available at ACSO and many Anoka County Police Departments and not relied solely on the <br />DEA's Prescription Drug Take Backs. CID has also investigated all drug overdose deaths as <br />potential murder /manslaughter cases (depending on drug schedule) and have had some (albeit few) <br />successful investigations/ prosecutions by the CAO. We also receive overdoses and investigate <br />(or refer to the AHDVCTF) those as well -and have begun tracking those.
