CC Regular Session 4. 10. <br />Meeting Date: 11/26/2013 <br />Submitted For: Dean Kapler, Fire Department By: Dean Kapler, Fire Department <br />Information <br />Title <br />Authorization to enter into contract with BKV for schematic design of Fire Station #2 <br />Purpose/Background: <br />On October 8, 2013 at the Council Work Session, Bruce Schwartzman of BKV made a presentation to the council <br />detailing the next steps in rebuilding fire station #2. At the end of the presentation, the consensus of council was to <br />move ahead with schematic design and negotiate a price estimated at $20,000. <br />Staff has received a Professional Services Proposal from BKV for the Schematic Design phase in the amount of <br />$19,000. The process is expected to take 2-3 months. <br />Staff has researched with other communities to assure this amount at market value. Although most communities <br />don't complete the schematic design phase separately, those who staff spoke with agreed that the $20,000 estimate <br />represented a good average cost. <br />Minutes of the October 8, 2013 work session are attached to this case. <br />Funding Source: <br />The $19,000 will be taken from the Professional Services line item of the 2014 Fire Department budget. Most of <br />these monies will be forwarded from the 2013 budget that was earmarked for the Shared Services costs.
