Councilmember <br />adoption: <br />introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />RESOLUTION #13-11-204 <br />RESOLUTION REJECTING VARIOUS BIDS ON ELMCREST PARK <br />COMMUNITY BUILDING PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING <br />STAFF TO OBTAIN QUOTES AND/OR NEGOTIATE CONTRACTS <br />WHEREAS, on September 24, 2013, the Council authorized staff to obtain bids <br />for the Elmcrest Park Community Building; and <br />WHEREAS, staff duly advertised for bids, which were opened on November 18th <br />2013; and <br />WHEREAS, no bids were received for 11 of the bid divisions; and <br />WHEREAS, the bids received for the following bid divisions are deemed by staff, <br />the architect and construction manager to be too high, or in the case of 02600 Septic <br />System, a division that was eliminated as an Addendum prior to bidding: <br />02500 Utilities <br />02600 Septic System <br />07400 Metal Panels <br />07600 Cement Board Siding <br />08300 Coiling Doors <br />09250 Gypsum Drywall <br />09900 Painting <br />WHEREAS, staff believes that acceptable prices for the bid divisions listed <br />above, as well as for those divisions for which no bids were received, can be obtained by <br />seeking quotes or negotiating directly with contractors, as allowed by State law. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1. The bids received in the bid divisions set forth above are hereby rejected. <br />2. Staff is authorized to obtain quotes or to contract in the open market pursuant to <br />the requirements of State law. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon <br />vote being taken, the following voted in favor: <br />and the following voted against: <br />and the following abstained: <br />
