BOARD / STAFF INPUT <br />• Recycle Your Holidays Update <br />Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that the program is back up and <br />running and identified the containers located in the lobby. He advised that old holiday lights and <br />extension cords can be dropped off during the holiday season, which will be collected by the <br />Recycling Association of Minnesota, who partners with organizations working with individuals <br />with developmental disabilities, for disassembling and recycling of the materials. <br />Board Member Stodola suggested advertising the program in the November/December issue of <br />the newsletter in addition to the January/February issue. <br />Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator Anderson noted that the program is also being <br />advertised on QCTV. <br />Board Member Lewis suggested advertising the program on the flashing marque outside the City <br />Hall. He also noted that communications could also be listed in the Anoka Shopper or Anoka <br />County Union in attempt to reach a larger audience. <br />• GreenStep Cities <br />Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that this item did not go before <br />the Council on November 26 He advised that he is still determining the amount of staff time <br />that will be needed to input actions and benchmarking information. He stated that after speaking <br />with participating cities it was determined that most had a Green Corps intern that entered the <br />information for the cities, so an exact amount of time was not known. He distributed information <br />he received from the GreenStep Cities representative regarding the benefits that would be <br />provided to the City through the program, which also specifies that this program is completely <br />voluntary and does not commit the City to any activity. He noted that this item will come before <br />the Council in December or January and confirmed that he will alert the Board to the date. He <br />noted that he will participating in a webinar this week, which provides more in depth information <br />on the benchmarking. <br />• Holiday Party /Commission Recognition <br />Associate Planner/Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that the event is scheduled to <br />occur on January 3, 2014. <br />7.
