JulT 17, 1990

RECEIVED
JUL 19 fego
,s'd ............

Kay McAloney, t'ersonne! Coordinator
Ramsey Municipal Center
15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear' Ms. McAloney:

I am ';nterested in a position on the Horse Care Commission.
1 am an avid horse enti3usiast; my family lives on a 40 acre
hobby farm ~'ith 6 (or so) horses at the address noted below.
We are informally known as "Harmony Farms." I am enclosing a
sketch of our horse facilities as required by the new
ordinance. Along with a lifelong interest in horses and a
recreational riding and showing career~ my horse-related
credentials include:

Three Rivers Pony Club
This is a relatively young organization (serving Anoka
County in its defined geographical area) which fosters
the safe &educaLional development of young riders. My
daughter is a rated rider~ and I am serving as Education
Coordinator for this Pony Club.

Minnesota Trail Riders Association
I have been a member of this organization since 1979,
which represents over 1000 horse-owning families across
the state. Since 1988, I have also served as a director
in the MTRA~ and in 1990, served as the chair for the
MTRA's Horse Expo 90 booth.

Minnesota Hunter-Jumper Association
Also a state-wide organization, I have been a member
since 1975. During the period from 1979-1984 I authored
a column in their newsletter called "Everyday Horselife"
which addressed various topics on horse management.

My personal horse activities have centered around horse-
camping, recreational trailriding, and hunter-jumper
horseshows. I completed a credited course at tl~e
University of Minnesota in 1977 from the veterinary
medicine department entitled "Care, Management, Showing,
and Diseases of Horses, and have remained reasonably
up-to-date on curre~]t horse related periodicals and
books. I am a member of Video Rider, which is a
subscription horse video rental service. Over the
years, I believe ] have developed a functional network
with local horse industry support professionals.

My interest in this Commission stems from a concern for
improving the education of the_~e ~ neral horse-owning._ public.
