Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #91.03- RESOLUTION APPROVING LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PARENTING LEAVE FOR JENNIFER SWENDSEN WItEREAS, consistent with City of Ramsey past practices, medical leaves of absence have been granted by the employer (City of Ramsey); and WHEREAS, Jennifer Swendsen, Accountant in the Finance Department, has requested a leave of absence for parental leave consistent with Minnesota Statutes 181.940 - 181.943 which provides for six-weeks leave; and WHEREAS, the effective date for the parenting leave is approximately April 4, 1991; and WHEREAS, Ms. Swendsen has presented the City of Ramsey with a note from her physician and will present a note from the physician before returning to work; and WltEREAS, Ms. Swendsen will use any earned but unused sick leave, accrued compensatory time and accrued vacation time, with the remaining time as unpaid leave if necessary; and WHEREAS, all employees must carry, at minimum, single health insurance coverage and the employer does not contribute toward the employee insurance allowance during unpaid leaves of absence; and WHEREAS, at least 51% of the month must be paid leave to be eligible for the City contribution for health and life insurance; and WHEREAS, should it be necessary, the employee will be responsible for the actual insurance cost to the City during any unpaid leaves of absence. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey hereby approves the leave of absence request of Jennifer Swendsen effective approximately April 4, 1991 in accordance with the terms of this resolution and Minnesota Statutes 181.940 - 181.943. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 13th day of March, 1991.
