Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #91-03- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION URGING THE RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT OF EARTHKEEPERS' <br />CLEANUP EFFORTS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey prides itself on its quality of life for residents and businesses <br />,'md is interested in working to improve and maintain the beauty of the area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, residents should be encouraged to recognize the environmental impact on our <br />community of theh' daily lives by becoming environmentally responsible consumers, conserving energy, <br />increasing recycling efforts and promoting environmental responsibility in our communities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this goal was aided by a volunteer organization called Earthkeepers who, during <br />Earth Day/Arbor Day 1990, organized more than 500 volunteers to pick up more than 9 tons of debris in <br />Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington/Lino Lakes and Blaine; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1991 efforts marked the beginning of a long-term commitment by individuals <br />and groups in Anoka County to building a safe, just and sustainable planet; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Earthkeepers, made up of a group of community leaders with Anoka County <br />Commissioner Margaret Langfeld as honorary chair, has again organized a cleanup and beautification <br />project along roads in Eastern Anoka County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Earthkeepers will conduct cleanup activities in conjunction with Arbor Day <br />activities on April 27, 1991; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Earthkeepers need support and volunteers to successfully complete it projects. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the Ramsey City Council hereby recognizes and supports Earthkeepers in its effort to clean <br />up and beautify areas in Anoka County. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />~ and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the <br />13th day of March, 1991. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />
