BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> Anoka County, Minnesota <br /> <br />DATE: February 2~, 1991 RESOLUTION #91-35 <br />OFFERED BY COMMISSIONER: Langfeld <br /> <br />RESOLUTION URGING THE RECOGNITION AND SUPPORT OF EARTHKEEPERS' <br />CLEANUP EFFORTS BY ALL ANOKA COUNTY CITIES AND TOWNSHIPS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Anoka County prides itself on its quality of life for residents and businesses and <br />is interested in working to improve and maintain the beauty of the area; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, residents should be encouraged to recognize the environmental impact on our <br />community of their daily lives by becoming environmentally responsible consumers, conserving <br />energy, increasing recycling efforts and promoting environmental responsibility in our communities; <br />and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this goal was aided by a volunteer organization calleQ Earthkeepers who during <br />Earth Day/Arbor Day 1990 organized more than 500 volunteers to pick up more than 9 tons of debris <br />in Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington/Uno Lakes and Blaine; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1990 efforts marked the beginning of a long-term commitment by individuals <br />and groups in Anoka County to building a safe, just and sustainable planet; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Earthkeepers, made up of a group of community leaders with Anoka County <br />Commissioner Margaret Langfeld as honorary chair, has again organized a cleanup and <br />beautification project along roads in Eastern Anoka County; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Esrthkeepers will conduct cleanup activities in conjunction with Arbor Day <br />activities on April 27, 1991; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS,' Earthkeepars needs support and volunteers to successfully complete its projects: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners does <br />hereby recognize and support Earthkeepers in its efforls to clean up and beautify areas in Anoka <br />County, <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners does strongly <br />urge all Anoka County cities and townships to recognize and support Earthkeepers' activities through <br />similar resolutions and/or volunteer efforts, <br /> <br />YES NO <br /> <br />District #1 - Vacant Vacant <br />District #2 - Burmah Absent Burman <br />District #3 - Langfeld X Langfeld <br />District #4 - Kordiek X Kordiak <br />Distdct #5 - Cenaiko X Cenaiko <br />District #6 - McCarron X McCarron <br />District #7 - Erhart X Erhart <br /> <br />-$~TATE OF MINNESOTA ) SS <br /> ) . <br /> <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> <br /> I, John 'Jay' McLJnden, County Administrator, Anoka County, Minnesota, hereby certify that <br />I have compared tile foregoing copy of the resolu~on of the County Board of said County with the <br />original record thereof on file in the Administration Office, Anoka County, Minnesota, as stated in the <br />minutes of the proceedings of said Board at a meeting duly held on February 26, 1991, and that the <br />same is a true and correct copy of said original record and of the whole thereof, and that said <br />resolution was duty passed by said Board at said meeting, <br /> W"rtnass my hand' and seal this 26th day of February, 1991, <br /> <br /> J(;~-IN 'J,~ MtSIJNOEN <br /> COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br /> <br /> <br />
