CASE #:

PRESENTATION OF THE LOWER RUM RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT
ORGANIZATION PLAN
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

The City of Ramsey is a member of the Lower Rum River Water Management Organization
(LRRWMO) as a result of a 1985 joint powers agreement entered into with fellow member cities of
Anoka, Andover and Coon Rapids. This organization was formed in response to Minnesota
Statutes 473.875 through 473.883 to prepare a water management plan designed to protect the
ground and surface water resources of the basin.

Submitted under separate cover is the final plan which has now received approval of the Minnesota
Board of Water and Soil Resources, the oversight agency for the development of such plans. I
will be prepared to touch briefly on the highlights of this plan at the meeting; however, a joint
meeting for Councilmembers of the member communities has been scheduled for Thursday, April
11, 1991 at 7:30 p.m. The tentative location planned for this meeting is Greenhaven Country Club
in Anoka. This meeting will address, in depth, the history and purpose of the WMO, the
administration of adopted plans and financial impacts that this plan may require.

Council Action:

Motion to accept and file Final Water Management Plan dated February, 1991.

$,

Review Checklist:

Acting City Administrator
City Engineer

CC: 03/26/91
