Case #1 <br />REPORT FROM PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> By: Kay McAloney, Personnel Coordinator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />A Personnel Committee meeting was held on April I0 and continued on April 18, 1991 at <br />City Hall. Present for the meeting of April 10th were Councilmembers Beyer, Hardin and <br />Cich. Councilmember Beyer did not attend the meeting of April 18th. Present at both <br />meetings were Personnel Coordinator Kay McAIoney, Acting City Administrator and <br />Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Helling, Police Chief Mike Auspos, Administrative <br />Coordinator Penny Ott, Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen and Recording Secretary <br />Jo Thieling. <br /> <br />1. Three-month Review of Inspector Steve Lutmer <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee reviewed the interim appraisal completed by City Engineer <br />Steve Jankowski. Mr. Jankowski and Mr. Lutmer have met to discuss the appraisal <br />and will make efforts to clarify monthly reporting to increase understandability and to <br />improve Mr. Lutmer's oral and written communications. Another interim appraisal <br />will be completed by Mr. Jankowski in June 1991. <br /> <br />Probationary Review of Senior Accountant Mary Gomez <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee reviewed the performance appraisal completed by Finance <br />Officer Sandra Ashley Helling on Ms. Gomez. The recommendation of the <br />Personnel Committee to the City Council is to retain Ms. Gomez as a full-time regular <br />employee for the City of Ramsey ending the probationary period effective April 24, <br />1991. <br /> <br />Probation Status for Recording Secretary Jo Thieling <br /> <br />The probationary review for the promotion to Recording Secretary for Ms. Thieling <br />will end on May 9, 1991. As a condition of promotion Ms. Thieling was required to <br />successfully complete a shorthand/speedwriting course, at her own expense, during <br />her six-month probationary period. Due to a medical leave of absence and the fact <br />that the classes were only held on evenings that Ms. Thieling was scheduled for <br />minute taking meetings, the course has not yet been taken. Staff recommended to the <br />Personnel Committee, to which they agreed, that Ms. Thieling be tested by an <br />instructor at Hennepin Techrdcal College to determine if Ms. Thieling's minute taking <br />skills are passing. Ms. Thieling was tested on April 15, 1991 and returned with a <br />statement from the instructor stating that her minute taking skills are indeed <br />satisfactory and considers her "passing". <br /> <br />Probationary Review of Receptionist/Network Support Kathy Johnson <br /> <br />Personnel Committee reviewed the performance appraisal completed by <br />Administrative Coordinator Penny Ott. The Personnel Committee recommends to the <br />City Council that the performance appraisal be approved. <br /> <br /> <br />
