CASE APPOINTMENTS TO THE CHARTER COMMISSION BY: Kay McAioney, Personnel Coordinator Background: The Charter Commission was established prior to the adoption of the City's Charter and remains an active body as long as it meets at a minimum of once per year. The terms of the members on the Charter Commission can span no more than two 4-year terms. Consequently, there are two positions on the Charter Commission that are vacant. It is in the best interest of the City of Ramsey to have an active Charter Commission in the event that minor modifications to the City's Charter are desired. Therefore, the City Council should consider possible nominations to be submitted to the Chief District Court Judge who appoints Charter Commission members. An advertisement was placed in the Ramsey Resident newsletter to fill the vacancies and three residents have expressed interest. Ms. Judy Marn and Mr. Jay Swokowski have been contacted and encouraged to attend the Council meeting to be interviewed by Councilmembers. Mr. Hardin has also been notified and will be available at the Council meeting for interviewing. The letters of application from Ms. Mare and Mr. Swokowski have been attached for your review. For your information only, Ms. Marn is not currently serving on any City Commission or Committee, Mr. Swokowski is currently serving on the Park & Recreation Commission with a term expiring on October 31, 1992, and Mr. Glen Hardin is currently a Councilmember with a term expiring on December 31, 1994. Council Action: Motion to appoint and to the Charter Commission to terms expiring May 12, 1995 and to aUthorize Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney to submit a letter to the Chief District Court Judge with Council's nominations.
