CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Mayor Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Jill Johns <br />Councilmember Mark Kuzma <br />Councilmember John LeTourneau <br />Councilmember Chris Riley <br />Councilmember Jason Tossey <br />Member Absent: Councilmember Randy Backous <br />Also Present: City Administrator Kurds Ulrich <br />Human Resources Manager Colleen Lasher <br />City Clerk Jo Thieling <br />Development Services Manager Timothy Gladhill <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Patrick Brama <br />Economic Development Manager Ted LaFrance <br />City Attorney Joe Langel <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:02 p.m. <br />2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />2.01: Discuss Council Organization <br />City Clerk Thieling presented the staff report and requested input relating to Committees /Boards <br />on which the Council wants to serve. She noted that during the Strategic Planning Sessions, it <br />was considered whether to eliminate the Personnel and Finance Committees. In addition, <br />consideration was requested on the legal newspaper, the Addendum to the Recording Secretary <br />Service Agreement, and Legal Services contracts. City Clerk Thieling stated two proposals were <br />received in 2013 for the legal newspaper; however, this year only one proposal was received. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated his recommendation to eliminate the Personnel and Finance <br />Committees and to retain the Public Works Committee as it serves a purpose in hearing <br />resident's concerns and providing a recommendation to the City Council. <br />City Clerk Thieling stated Finance Director Lund has indicated that the majority of the Finance <br />Committee items go before the full Council in any event. <br />City Council Work Session / January 7, 2014 <br />Page 1 of 13 <br />
