July 10, 1991

District-Wide Recreation Position
MEETING AGENDA
7:00 pm, Community Education Center

1. Welcome & introductions.

2. Update since last meeting--report on "who's in & who's not".

3. Discussion: based on what we now know, do we have a sufficient population base to proceed with
the proposal? If no, we adjourn, tf yes, we move to item 4.

4. Discussion of next steps. The following is a suggestion of possible next steps--feel free to add or
delete dudng discussion.
a. Designate representative(s) from each participating governmental unit to meet as a group to
do the following by a date determined by those in attendance tonight. ;
1. Write a specific job description for the proposed recreation person, and for the part-
time clerical position.
2. Develop a joint powers document that addresses and clarifies all anticipated
questions and aspects of the proposal such as: purpose, governance, funding plan, fiscal agent, :
office location, operational procedures relating to programming for communities and working with
youth and adult athletic organizations, coordination and non-duplication with other existing
organizations, timeline, etc.
3. Present the above two documents to the full group for discussion/amendment and
ultimate recommendation to the respective City Council or Township Board for their approval. 4. Post and advertise for the positions.
5. Interview and make employment selection.

Note: It may be helpful for the committee to get feedback from those in attendance tonight on what
your priorities are for the position--is it to run summer recreation programs in your communities? To
coordinate year-round recreational activities such as ice rinks? What recreational sites does your
community have that you would want programs to occur in or on?
It seems logical also to discuss your expectations as to timeline for all of the above.

5. Other business?

6. Select next meeting date.

7. Adjournment.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I

I
I
