These businesses meet small business criteria
established by SBA..

Red Oak is the dominant native species. Our City (and County) are heavily impacted by Oak Wilt,
recent drought and development. Diversifying the species mix is a long-term strategy. Home
owners are curious about which species to plant and how to care for them. This u'ee planting effort
is expected to demonstrate ahernadve species and correct care. Our soil is generally quite sandy,
so wood chip mulch is an important, low cost technique for sponsoring the growth of favored
trees. Compost soil amendments surrounding the tree also sponsors a healthy and vigorous root
growth. Furthermore, the use of wood chips and yard waste compost establishes a cycle of
utilization that home owners can apply in mana~ng their own recycling. Consequent]y, we want
to mulch and spread compost at the time of planting and repeat this as maintenance activity for the
first 3 years for each planted tree. The Anoka County chipping and compost site will be the source
of this material.

$ ]0,~27.00
$ -0-

CTot.~ Cost)

(Ira-kind Contributions)

Grant Amount Requ~ S ]

4,975.00

(Over)
