Fire Chief Kapler commented on the importance of assuring accurate information, which would <br />be relayed to the City Administrator who would provide it to the Council. He suggested face -to- <br />face updates to assure the information remains accurate. Fire Chief Kapler stated it is the City's <br />responsibility to get accurate information out to the media, perhaps in the form of a news release. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated their first direction to the Council would be to show up at the <br />Municipal Center should there be a disaster situation and if the Municipal Center is not available, <br />to show up at Fire Station #1. Communications would occur over phone and /or e -mail, and <br />information provided by the Fire /Police Chief. He noted that there is potentially a need for <br />authorization of emergency expenditures and staff would make every effort to assure the process <br />is methodic. City Administrator Ulrich encouraged the Council to not speak with the <br />media/press or enter any "hot spots," and to allow the emergency personnel to do their job. <br />Mayor Strommen asked staff to review the City's Emergency Response Policy to determine if <br />any pieces should be reviewed with the Council. <br />Wayne Buccholz, 14621 Neon Street NW, stated he had been in the trucking industry for 35 <br />years and management had to have annual training on HazMat. He stated he knows the book is <br />updated, but the update failed in several areas such as related to combustible liquids and <br />hazardous placards. <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated in the trucking industry with mixed loads, there is a similar threshold. <br />The consensus of the Council was to direct staff to schedule a review of the City's Emergency <br />Response Policy for discussion at a future Work Session. <br />2.04: Introduce CBRE Representatives to the City Council (Real Estate Broker) <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Brama explained the purpose of this case is for <br />representatives of CBRE to introduce themselves to the City Council. He noted that tonight's <br />Council agenda includes a case to approve the CBRE contract. Assistant to the City <br />Administrator Brama stated staff is excited to start working with CBRE, a first class <br />organization, and believes CBRE can achieve the Council's objective to reduce the number of <br />City -owned properties. He noted the information provided to the Council related to CBRE. <br />At the invitation of Mayor Strommen, City staff and the Council introduced themselves. <br />Mayor Strommen extended the Council's welcome and expectation that CBRE will meet the <br />Council's goals and objectives. <br />Richard Palmiter, Vice President of Land Services with CBRE, stated CBRE is excited to work <br />with Ramsey and indicated the timing is perfect as the economy is moving in the right direction <br />and the real estate industry is perking up. <br />City Council Work Session / January 28, 2014 <br />Page5of7 <br />
