Brian Pankratz, Vice President of Land Services with CBRE, stated the City has a diverse <br />portfolio of properties and the market is moving forward so there will be a lot of interest by <br />investors and developers. <br />Mr. Palmiter explained that 30,000 people work with CBRE and it is important for the Council to <br />know that he and Mr. Pankratz will reach out to the right people to execute this assignment. That <br />is CBRE's commitment to Ramsey <br />Mr. Pankratz stated they have enjoyed working with staff up to this point. <br />Mayor Strommen explained that the Council undertook a strategic planning process that included <br />an exit strategy for the City to get out of ownership of property within The COR and City. She <br />stated the Council is excited to now move to the implementation phase. She asked for their <br />perspective of Ramsey and its assets. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau stated a challenge identified that the Ramsey Council is interested <br />in hearing what it needed to hear, not what it wanted to hear. He asked CBRE for honest <br />feedback without anticipation of what the Council wants to hear. <br />Mayor Strommen also asked what CBRE thinks the challenges will be. <br />Mr. Pankratz stated CBRE is the listing agent for the Brookfield Subdivision and as of January <br />of last year, they sold 60 lots at a good price. He stated people want to live in Ramsey to take <br />advantage of Northstar, Highway 10, friendly neighborhoods, large employment centers along <br />Highway 10 and into Champlin, Coburn's, and the new apartments. <br />Mr. Palmiter stated there is another significant difference in the Council and staff who are now <br />making the decisions. He felt the market place knows that and finds it to be a welcome change. <br />Mr. Palmiter stated the Council is implementing changes and procedures that are excellent to set <br />the stage for success into the future in making Ramsey "rock." <br />3. TOPICS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION <br />Mayor Strommen requested a future discussion on the Railroad Emergency Response Plan and <br />similar informational items to make the Council aware of the City's policies. <br />Councilmember Riley requested a presentation from the Police Department on recent incidents <br />and what they are working on in the future. <br />Mayor Strommen suggested the Police Department also provide information on crime trends that <br />may have relationship to the Council's decisions. <br />Police Captain Katers stated there will be an informational meeting next week on the topic of <br />heroin use and how it impacts students and families. <br />City Council Work Session / January 28, 2014 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />
