Similarly, Anoka County <br />has six crews working full time to patch potholes on County Roads as a temporary fix until the <br />ground thaws and dries. Anoka County is encouraging it's citizens to visit their website homepage <br />at www.anokacounty.us to report potholes on county roads, and to learn more about why potholes <br />form. <br />Public Works Update. In addition to potholes, Public Works continues to open frozen catch <br />basins to move water off the roads and into the storm water system. Staff is also preparing <br />sweeping equipment for spring street sweeping, which we will begin as soon as the gutter lines are <br />clear of snow and ice. The rinks have officially closed and the park department has now turned <br />their attention to tree trimming. The utility department is still responding to calls for frozen water <br />services, which number 26 to date. We expect this trend to continue for several more weeks. <br />Improvement Project Updates <br />• Riverdale Drive Extension and Reconstruction - <br />o This project proposes to reconstruct Riverdale Drive between Armstrong <br />Boulevard and the cul -de -sac east of Alpaca Street, and to extend Riverdale Drive <br />to Traprock Street. <br />o The City Council will likely be asked to approve plans and authorize bids for this <br />project in late April. <br />o If approved, construction would begin in late May /early June and be completed in <br />2014. <br />• Highway 10 /Armstrong Boulevard Interchange - <br />o Final design plans and specifications will be completed in late spring /early summer <br />of 2014. <br />o Construction is proposed to begin in the fall of 2014, contingent on receiving the <br />necessary remaining funding. <br />o Construction duration is currently estimated at 18 to 22 months. <br />o More information on this project, including project contact information and public <br />open house dates, is available @ http: / /www.highway1 Oandan-nstrong.com <br />• Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - <br />o A 10 -foot wide bituminous trail will be constructed in the right -of -way west of <br />Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161S Avenue. <br />o Tree removal operations are underway. <br />o Construction will be completed by the end of June. <br />• Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - <br />o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road bituminous <br />trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island and Traprock <br />Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. <br />o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. <br />o Tree clearing on King's Island began in December of 2013. <br />o Construction will be completed in 2014. <br />Fire Department. All 7 new FF's reported for duty on Wednesday at the department's monthly <br />Business Meeting. Introductions were made, turnout gear and pagers issued, all HR forms <br />completed, and lockers at all 3 stations were assigned. <br />
