Similarly, Anoka County has six crews working full time to patch potholes on County Roads as a temporary fix until the ground thaws and dries. Anoka County is encouraging it's citizens to visit their website homepage at www.anokacounty.us to report potholes on county roads, and to learn more about why potholes form. Public Works Update. In addition to potholes, Public Works continues to open frozen catch basins to move water off the roads and into the storm water system. Staff is also preparing sweeping equipment for spring street sweeping, which we will begin as soon as the gutter lines are clear of snow and ice. The rinks have officially closed and the park department has now turned their attention to tree trimming. The utility department is still responding to calls for frozen water services, which number 26 to date. We expect this trend to continue for several more weeks. Improvement Project Updates • Riverdale Drive Extension and Reconstruction - o This project proposes to reconstruct Riverdale Drive between Armstrong Boulevard and the cul -de -sac east of Alpaca Street, and to extend Riverdale Drive to Traprock Street. o The City Council will likely be asked to approve plans and authorize bids for this project in late April. o If approved, construction would begin in late May /early June and be completed in 2014. • Highway 10 /Armstrong Boulevard Interchange - o Final design plans and specifications will be completed in late spring /early summer of 2014. o Construction is proposed to begin in the fall of 2014, contingent on receiving the necessary remaining funding. o Construction duration is currently estimated at 18 to 22 months. o More information on this project, including project contact information and public open house dates, is available @ http: / /www.highway1 Oandan-nstrong.com • Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - o A 10 -foot wide bituminous trail will be constructed in the right -of -way west of Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161S Avenue. o Tree removal operations are underway. o Construction will be completed by the end of June. • Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road bituminous trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island and Traprock Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. o Tree clearing on King's Island began in December of 2013. o Construction will be completed in 2014. Fire Department. All 7 new FF's reported for duty on Wednesday at the department's monthly Business Meeting. Introductions were made, turnout gear and pagers issued, all HR forms completed, and lockers at all 3 stations were assigned.
