• Maintenance vehicle loads (depending on final width) will need to be evaluated in <br />the bridge design, per MnDOT Bridge Design Manual. <br />• The pedestrian bridge design must accommodate inspectors climbing on the bridge <br />for inspections or identify specifically how inspections shall occur. <br />D. Site Development <br />• Identification of how bridge approach design relates to area plans, including a visual <br />assessment - coordination with City Departments (zoning code) and landowners <br />• Access/Movement Plan for bridge users, summarizing anticipated pedestrian, <br />bicycle and ADA movements, location of ramps, stairs, walls, etc. <br />• Landscaping and layout <br />• Vertical and horizontal alignments of pathways / walls / stairs <br />• Coordinate with MnDOT to ensure the skyway will work upon construction <br />without amendments, with BOTH the existing highway footprint and that of <br />future upgrades to freeway status. (Bridge abutments, clear zones and vertical <br />elevations) <br />• Preliminary site finishes study / colors / materials / treatments / relationship to <br />transit facility <br />• Preliminary Lighting Design <br />E. Traffic Engineering <br />• Obtain vehicle traffic counts from City and MnDOT records. Traffic patterns and <br />requirements will be coordinated with the City Engineering Department and <br />MnDOT for traffic detoured during future construction of the project. <br />• Inventory existing MnDOT traffic control features <br />• Prepare draft detour plan <br />F. Environmental Services <br />• The consultant will provide an assessment of potential hazardous wastes or <br />materials that may be associated with the project site. <br />• The consultant will provide National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance <br />evaluation and documentation (expected to be a categorical exclusion) for the <br />project, in conjunction with MnDOT and meet all requirements for Federal funding. <br />G. Right-of-way <br />Perform the following work: <br />• Identify existing ownership and easements <br />• Coordinate with City staff on right-of-way and easement requirements and <br />agreements, and the scheduling of activities. <br />• Obtain/ develop map, locating project limits. <br />• Make physical inspection of property. Note any physical evidence of infrastructure <br />not governed by easements, etc. <br />• Check for latest subdivision plats for potential conflicts. <br />• Prepare preliminary right-of-way descriptions, easements and exhibits, if needed. <br />• Does not include preparing chain of title and looking for encumbrances, releases, etc. <br />The south approach to the bridge may require minor acquisition of property not <br />currently City -owned for proper design of approach ramps - this property owner shall <br />RFP 6 <br />Mississippi Skyway <br />
