The City set out to
accomplish three goals with this event; 1) Networking, 2)
Education, and 3) Improvements to City Processes and
Standards. The event was attended by approximately twenty
individuals representing a broad spectrum of professionals
working in the development process.
The Keynote Speaker was Herman Hauglid with the State
of Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, speaking
on the topic of an upcoming update to the Minnesota State
Building Code. Panel speakers also included Kurt Ulrich,
City Administrator (Strategic Plan: A New Day, A New
Beginning), Ted LaFrance, Economic Development
Manager (Economic Development Initiatives), and Tim Gladhill, Development Services Manager (New Development Update).
A special thanks goes out to Katy Hauan, JoAnn Shaw, Chris Anderson, Rick Jarson, and Patrick Brama for working tirelessly
behind the scenes to make this event a success! Also, thank you to Commissioner Gary Levine, Chairperson for the Planning
Commission, for serving as the event's Emcee.
Great River Energy (GRE) 115 kV Transmission Line Project Commencing within City of Ramsey
Great River Energy is in the process of constructing a
transmission line from the city of Coon Rapids to the city
of Anoka, with impacts to the city of Ramsey at the Rum
River and along Bunker Lake Boulevard. GRE is
currently in the process of clearing vegetation along the
corridor and mobilizing equipment to begin setting
footings as well as staging transmission line poles. The
project was approved by the Public Utilities Commission
(PUC), a State of Minnesota review process. The route
and transmission line poles, consisting of a combination
of monopole (metal and wood) as well as lattice design
(at the Rum River crossing) were approved by the PUC.
This is Phase I of a two-phase project. Phase II, with
impacts within Ramsey, will be a separate review process
at a future date.
