CASE #3 INDUSTRIAL AREA CLEAN-UP By: James Gromberg, Project Manager Background: At the August 14, 1991 meeting, the Commission discussed some of the problems currently faced in the industrial area with regard to the condition of premises and our areas of the City Code. After the discussion, the Commission requested that staff develop a proposal on how to handle the complaints that the City has received in the area. For your information, I have included the following: 1) 2) 3) Map Showing Area List of Violations Currently Existing Pertinent Sections of the City Code Observations: In order to best complete the clean-up of the area, the EDC should form a subcommittee to meet with the affected property owners and suggest the needed changes to fit with the City Code. On the attached list of violations, I have listed a solution to the code violations. The EDC may also wish to look at possible changes in the City Code to better fit the type of development in the area. These changes need to be recommended to both the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission. The changes in what is expected may prevent further problems in the future between the residents in this area. Recommendation: Based on Commission discussion, to form a subcommittee to work with the code violations and property owners to bring the properties up to code compliance. The subcommittee could also develop any needed code changes. Commission Action: Motion to form a subcommittee to work with City Staff for the completion of the industrial area clean-up and to report back to the Commission on possible changes to the City Code concerning industrial area requirements.
