PROPOSED ORDINANCE #03- CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 9, WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE ZONING AND SUBDIVISION OF LAND CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB-SECTION 9.11.04 "HOME OCCUPATIONS", OF SECTION 9.11 "PERFORMANCE STANDARDS" OF CHAPTER 9 "ZONING AND SUBDIVSION OF LAND" OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. The City of Ramsey ordains: SECTION 1. REPEAL Sub-section 9.11.04 (Home Occupations), is repealed. SECTION 2. AMENDMENT Sub-section 9.11.04 (Home Occupations) shall be replaced with the following text: 9.11.04 Home Occupations. A Home Occupation Permit (Permit) shall be required for business and commercial uses proposed to be conducted in residential districts in order to provide peace, quiet, and domestic tranquility within all residential neighborhoods within the City, and in order to guarantee all residents freedom from excessive noise, excessive traffic, nuisance, fire hazard and other possible effects of said commercial uses. Applications for a Home Occupation Permit shall be processed in accordance with the processing procedure established for Conditional Use Permits in Section 9.03.05 of this Code. Home Occupation Permit's may be cancelled and revoked pursuant to the procedure established in Section 9.03.05 of this Code. Subd. 1. Exemptions from Permit Requirements. Home occupations that comply with the following criteria are exempt from the Permit requirements of this section: a. Home Occupations that are conducted in the Dwelling Unit and no more than one room of the Dwelling Unit shall be used for such purpose. b. There is no display of interior or exterior business signs unless otherwise permitted in Section 9.20 Zoning Districts. Co There is no exterior evidence of the home occupation such as displays, exterior storage of business equipment, materials, merchandise, inventory or heavy equipment.
