COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />7.01: Consider Adopting Resolution #14 -02 -034 Ordering Preparation of Feasibility <br />Report for Reconstructing Garnet Street and 168th Avenue <br />City Engineer Westby reviewed the staff report and recommendation to order the Feasibility <br />Report for reconstructing Garnet Street and 168 Avenue to prevent the City from falling further <br />behind on the long -term street maintenance program, and also to allow staff to generate accurate <br />estimated costs to help budget for this much needed project. <br />Motion by Councilmember Kuzma, seconded by Councilmember LeTourneau, to Adopt <br />Resolution #14 -02 -034 Ordering Feasibility Report for Reconstructing Garnet Street and 168 <br />Avenue. <br />Further discussion: City Engineer Westby stated sidewalks could be bid as an alternate, if <br />preferred. The Council asked staff to be sure it is clear that sewer and water would be installed <br />under the roadway but property owners would not be forced to connect. The Council asked that <br />utilities be addressed as a separate line item. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers Kuzma, LeTourneau, <br />Backous, Johns, Riley, and Tossey. Voting No: None. <br />7.02: Consider Adopting Resolutions #14 -02 -038 and #14 -02 -039 Regarding a Potential <br />Cul -de -Sac on 171st Avenue NW East of Rabbit Street NW in Response to a Building <br />Permit Application <br />This item was removed from the agenda upon adoption. <br />7.03: Approve Request for Seeking Proposals for Mowing Abatement Services <br />Police Chief Way reviewed the staff report and recommendation for the Council to authorize <br />issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for mowing abatement services. <br />Motion by Councilmember Backous, seconded by Councilmember Kuzma, to authorize staff to <br />seek proposals for mowing abatement services. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers Backous, Kuzma, Johns, <br />LeTourneau, Riley, and Tossey. Voting No: None. <br />7.04: Consider Adopting Resolution #14 -02 -041 to Hire a Utilities Maintenance Worker <br />Human Resources Manager Lasher reviewed the staff report and recommendation to hire Mat <br />Graf as a Utilities Maintenance Worker based on the finding of the needs analysis conducted for <br />this position. <br />City Council/ February 25, 2014 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />
