11.That the hives would be located approximately seventy (70) feet from the nearest property boundary and outside any drainage and utility easement. 12.That the honeybee colonies will be housed in new Langstroth style removable frame equipment. 13.That a separate water source, which would consist of a bucket partially filled with water and include landing space for the honeybees, will be provided to ensure that there is a constant supply of water for the hives. 14.That the Applicant is participating in the University of Minnesota Bee Squad's Hive to Bottle program, which is under the purview of the University of Minnesota's Bee Lab. 15.That in conjunction with the Bee Squad, the colonies will be managed to prevent swarming and to promote honeybee health by removing unused comb and following acceptable practices to prevent robbing. 16.That if present, surplus honey will be harvested regularly throughout the summer and fall months. 17.That a Bee Squad Beekeeper will inspect the colony every seven (7) to fourteen (14) days from May through October, 2014, and periodically through the winter months as deemed necessary. 18.That should either colony exhibit unusually aggressive characteristics by stinging or attempting to sting without due provocation, or exhibit an unusual disposition towards swarming, the Applicant shall requeen the colony and the new queen shall be selected from stock bred for gentleness and non-swarming characteristics. 19.That the property owners of the lots immediately adjacent to the Subject Property to the north and south have both submitted statements supporting the Applicant’s request for a conditional use permit. 20.That the proposed use will not be unduly dangerous or otherwise detrimental to persons residing or working in the vicinity of the use or to the public welfare. 21.That the proposed use will not substantially adversely impair the use, enjoyment, or market value of any surrounding property. 22.That the proposed use will not be hazardous or disturbing to existing neighboring uses. 23.That the proposed use will be served adequately by public facilities and services such as highways and streets. 24.That the proposed use will not create excessive additional requirements at public cost for public facilities and services RESOLUTION #14-03-042 Page of 3 2
