Fire Department Staff <br />The Fire Department ended 2013 with 45 firefighters. 2013 saw 3 firefighters retire and 4 others who also left the <br />dept. A recruitment was completed in late 2013/early 2014 and 7 additional Firefighters will be brought on in <br />March of 2014. <br />Ramsey/Nowthen Service Fees <br />Per the Joint Powers Agreement, Ramsey and Nowthen pay fees for apparatus and staff for training and response <br />for each community. In 2013 Ramsey fees totaled $4100 for apparatus fees. Nowthen reimbursement for staff <br />training and meetings totaled $11,708, staff costs for response to Nowthen totaled $9673, apparatus costs totaled <br />$6215. It should be noted that per the JPA Nowthen also paid $3708 to the Relief Association, $6416 for <br />Administrative costs, $3180 for a Captains rate, $2520 for a Lieutenants rate, and $5513 for Workman's <br />Compensation Insurance for firefighters at the Nowthen Station. <br />Training <br />The Fire Department must keep up an aggressive training schedule to meet all requirements of on -going <br />certifications, NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) guidelines and OSHA requirements. Also all fire officers attended a 3 session <br />course hosted by Dr. Richard Gasaway on Fire Ground Leadership totaling 12 hours. <br />
