Absent: Councilmember Backous. <br />Councilmember Backous returned to the Council Chambers at 7:28 p.m. <br />7.02: Adopt Resolution #14 -03 -060 to Hire Two Patrol Officers <br />Human Resources Manager Lasher reviewed the staff report and recommendation to hire Jacob <br />Hinnenkamp and Bradley Hesse as full -time Patrol Officers, on or near March 27 -28, 2014, at <br />$22.53 per hour, Step 1 of the 2014 Wage Scale. <br />At the request of the Council, Police Captain Katers described the impact to the Police <br />Department during 2013 when it was short staffed by one officer and resulting overtime costs. <br />Motion by Councilmember Tossey, seconded by Councilmember Backous, to Adopt Resolution <br />#14 -03 -060 to Hire Two Patrol Officers. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers Tossey, Backous, Johns, <br />Kuzma, LeTourneau, and Riley. Voting No: None. <br />7.03: Adopt Resolutions #14 -03 -055 and #14 -03 -056 in Support of the City's 2014 <br />Legislative Platform <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Brama reviewed the staff report and recommendation to <br />adopt resolutions relating to the 2014 Legislative Platform for the City of Ramsey. He noted that <br />Anoka County had prepared a resolution template relating to removing Ramsey from the <br />Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area (MRCCA) rulemaking process; however, there is no <br />State HF /SF number at this time. Staff recommends taking no action on that item. <br />Development Services Manager Gladhill explained that if Ramsey is exempted during this round <br />of MRCCA's rulemaking, it will not be a lost opportunity as rulemaking will extend to 2015. He <br />noted that Ramsey has previously been successful in obtaining special legislation for overlay <br />districts and before Ramsey adopts its ordinance, there is opportunity to work through the <br />Legislative process if the Council so desires. <br />City Council / March 11, 2014 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br />
