out. Thanks to the Public Works staff for all their assistance in site prep, set -up and take down
and thanks to all the residents for your part in recycling!
Ramsey Rail Station. At the request of the City, Metro Transit has informed us that their
facilities' group will be coming out to the Ramsey Station and checking /adjusting the lighting
timers as necessary to match other stations. Also, as an FYI, lights will be on later in the evening
during Twins season.
PW Activities. Pothole patching continues to be a main objective for our crew. Our contractor
finished working on Andrie Street and now Public Works staff will take over and finish. This was
a terrible year for potholes and we have a long way to go to catch up. The rest of the Street
Department has been working on Dysprosium Street, replacing sod and black dirt on the west side
of the street. The east side was completed last fall. Contractors continue to work on the Armstrong
Blvd trail, with paving scheduled for the near future, weather permitting. Our Park Department
staff is busy with athletic field prep and the rumor is they will start mowing next week. That,
coupled with MnDOT lifting Spring Load Restrictions at 12:01 Friday May 9 makes me think
it's officially safe to say it's Spring!
New Phone System. The new phone system went live on May 1, at 12:00 noon. Transition went
smoother than expected. 100 new phones were installed along with a new voicemail system. We
are still working on configuring some new features and they will be rolled out as they are made
available. If you have any questions regarding the new phones or the new voicemail system, please
contact either Jason or Kathy at City Hall.
Summer is Here. It is finally getting nice outside and that is evident by the number of thefts from
vehicles and garages. The police department has received a number of theft calls in recent weeks
that are easily preventable. The would -be thieves are entering garages through overhead doors
that are left open during the night. The same is true for vehicles that residents are leaving unlocked
with valuables inside. These thefts are a crime of opportunity and can be drastically reduced if
people simply take the time to remove valuables from their vehicles and secure their property. The
police will be implementing some bike patrols in the hardest hit areas to try to nab the perpetrators.
Save the Date:
• City of Ramey Pet Clinic: Sunday, May 18 — 11:30 am to 1:30 pm - Located at Fire
Station #2, 15153 Nowthen Blvd NW, Ramsey, MN.
