SECTION 5
RECOMMENDATION AND IMPLEMENTATION
A. GENERAL
This section will present the recommended improvements to the sanitary sewer system
and an implementation plan for the improvements.
B. RECOMMENDATION
The extension of sanitary sewer will be necessary for the City of Ramsey to grow with
urban densities. Therefore, as growth occurs it is recommended that the sanitary sewer trunk
system is extended as shown on Figure 3. However, it should be noted that changes to the
proposed trunk sewer system may be necessary based on the timing and location of actual
development patterns.
C. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
The implementation of the sanitary sewer trunk system extensions is dependent on the
rate and location of future growth. The extension of sanitary sewer east of the Town Center
development and south of the existing MUSA line will not require the extension of the City's
trunk sewer system. The trunk sewer system will need to be extended to provide sanitary sewer
service to the areas west of the Town Center development and north of the current MUSA line.
Currently, there is development pressure just south of Trott Brook along Nowthen
Boulevard and at the commercial nod located at the intersection of T.H. 47 and 167th Avenue. In
order to provide sanitary sewer service to these areas it will be necessary to extend the trunk
sanitary sewer system to both areas. Figure 4 and Figure 5 show the proposed sewer extensions
for the proposed northwest and northeast service areas. Since the proposed developments shown
on Drawing No. 4, are not adjacent to other urban developments it is proposed that a lift station
and temporary forcemain are constructed to minimize the cost the improvements until the
City of Ramsey Page 5-1
Comprehensive Sanitary Sewer Plan - 2004 Prepared by Bolton & Menk, Inc.
