Park and Recreation Commission <br />Meeting Date: 04/10/2014 <br />By: Mark Riverblood, Engineering/Public <br />Works <br />5. 1. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Acknowledge ThriveMSP 2040 (Metropolitan Council Regional Development Framework) Process <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is informational only. The City of Ramsey Planning Commission and Staff are formally <br />beginning the next required municipal Comprehensive Plan Update process by engaging in the public comment <br />process as hosted by the Metropolitan Council.More information is included with the regular April Planning <br />Commission agenda. The following is an excerpt from their agenda: 'The City of Ramsey last updated its updated <br />its Comprehensive Plan in 2008. The completion of the 2010 US Census kicked off a new regional planning cycle. <br />The first key milestone of that process wraps up this April 28, 2014 with a Metropolitan Council Public Hearing on <br />ThriveMSP 2040, the Regional Development Framework that serves as the base for all future planning documents <br />in the cycle'. <br />The Park and Recreation Commission will note within the attached 'Proposed Response' document, three Regional <br />Trail related comments, Staff will brief the Commission on some of the background on this, and other related <br />Comprehensive Plan related matters. <br />While no action is required at this time, the Commission is encouraged to become familiar with Ramsey's existing <br />Comprehensive Plan, the proposed Regional Framework - and to become engaged in the process, as either or both a <br />resident and as a City Official. <br />Notification: <br />Notification is not required at this time. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Funding Source: <br />Development of these documents and supporting materials is being handled as part of normal Staff duties. <br />Recommendation: <br />Action: <br />No action required/based upon discussion. <br />Attachments <br />Thrive MSP 2040 - Regional Development Framework <br />Proposed Response <br />Existing 2030 Comprehensive Plan <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />
