Development Services Manager Gladhill presented the Staff Report requesting the Commission <br />consider developing general guiding principles to assist staff in preparing a Comprehensive Plan <br />Amendment to establish an area for a future business park. <br />Commission Business <br />Commissioner Brauer discussed the population figures that were accepted from the Metropolitan <br />Council. He questioned where an additional 9,000 people and 5,000 homes would be placed in <br />the City of Ramsey. Development Services Manager Gladhill reviewed the City's future land use <br />map noting the capacity within the City would meet Metropolitan Council's forecasts. <br />Commissioner Field questioned if the City had a present demand for additional business park <br />space. Development Services Manager Gladhill explained the EDA has recommended the <br />additional space as it would allow businesses to expand and stay in Ramsey. He believed that the <br />additional land would be a huge economic asset for the City. <br />Motion by Commissioner Brauer, seconded by Commissioner Field, to recommend that City <br />Council adopt the guiding principles and framework for the Armstrong West: Future Business <br />Park Comprehensive Plan Amendment. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners Brauer, Field, Nosan, and <br />VanScoy. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Bauer and Maul. <br />5.07: Discussion: Receive Presentation on Existing Employment District Standards <br />Presentation <br />Development Services Manager Gladhill provided the Commission with a presentation on the <br />existing employment district standards. He noted staff was attempting to ensure the City's land <br />use regulations are always up to date and consistent with the Planning Commission's land use <br />goals and wanted to keep the Commission apprised of this information. In addition, the City <br />wants to be prepared to meet the demands of future business growth. He asked for comments or <br />suggestions from the Planning Commission. <br />Commission Business <br />Chairperson Levine was encouraged that staff would be providing the Planning Commission with <br />regular updates on this matter as this would keep the Commission apprised of developments and <br />changes going on in the City. <br />Commissioner Field agreed. <br />City Planner Anderson stated the Environmental Policy Board was recommending the <br />requirement for in- ground irrigation be removed from the City's landscaping standards.
