City Administrator Norman replied that staff has had discussion with the Town Center LLC <br />group, but square footage issues have not yet been addressed. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson replied that the reason they need to complete the study is so <br />that they can discuss space needs, parking requirements, etc. with the Town Center LLC group. <br /> <br />Councihnember Zimmerman inquired if it would be possible to get a comparison on the size of <br />the Police Departments for similar size communities. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied that staff would be visiting other communities as part of the process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook inquired if the Police Chief was interested in keeping the Police <br />Department and City Hall together. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied absolutely. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig stated that there is a big picture that they need to get a grasp on, not only <br />the civic area, but also what other projects could be brought into the City to help support the <br />facility. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that they need to know what the City's space needs are and then join in <br />with other entities to help support the facility. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to recommend that the <br />City Council adopt the resolution authorizing the proposal from BKV Group for a Space Needs <br />Assessment for the Police Department at a cost not to exceed $11,500 and the use of the <br />encumbered funds from the 2002 budget. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, Cook, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman.
