Mayor Gamec stated that he would research that issue further. <br />No action was required. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that staff did meet with the school <br />regarding walking students and they did come up with an agreement on what paths should <br />remain clear. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked the City Attorney if it would be appropriate for the City Council to <br />adopt a resolution regarding the speed zone stating that the Council would be in favor of <br />the speed reduced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to be presented to the County. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich replied yes. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if a 45 mph speed limit 24 hours a day seven days a week would <br />be appropriate. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied that 45 mph would be adequate. <br /> <br />Councihnember Kurak inquired as to where the speed zone would start and stop. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied that currently it starts and stops right at the property lines. <br />Ideally he would like the speed zone to be from Sunwood to Alpine Drive. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired if the Police Chief would prefer that the speed limit be reduced to <br />35 mph and that the area be expanded. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way replied that 35 mph with an expanded area would be a better situation. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Council was to direct staff' to draft a resolution to be presented to the <br />County requesting a 35 mph speed limit and expanded area. <br /> <br />Motion by Councihnember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendations of the Public Safety Board. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Elvig, Kurak, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman.
