CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at the Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec -' Councilmember Todd Cook Councilmember David Elvig Councilmember Patti Kurak Councilmember A1 Pearson Councilmember Sarah Strommen Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman Also Present: City Administrator James E. Norman Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler Principal City Engineer Brian Olson Police Chief James Way Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos City Attorney William Goodrich CALL TO ORDER Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:11 p.m. and lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. PRESENTATION: Ramsey 4th of July Committee Gary Gruber, Ramsey Event Promotions Committee, explained that the Committee was started to raise funds for Anoka and Ramsey youth athletic programs to help pay for athletic fees. Last year they had about 3,000 people attend the event and ended up raising approximately $3,000 after expenses. The corporate donations for this year are already looking good. This year the Committee is planning a one-day event on Friday, July 4th. Ramsey Event Promotions will be running the event with the help of Diamonds staff and they will also be looking for help from the Ramsey Police and Fire Departments. Ramsey Lions will be helping with parking and food. Last year the Council was great with waiving any permit fees for the event and he hoped they could do so again this year. They continue to want to make it a large community event with anything that is raised that day going to the local youth. The Committee is planning on a fire works display again, which is the largest expense of the event. They would also like to have a City Council/February 11, 2003 Page 2 of 14
