CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at the <br />Ramsey Fire Station Number I, 15050 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec -' <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember Patti Kurak <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Principal City Engineer Brian Olson <br />Police Chief James Way <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:11 p.m. and lead in the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: Ramsey 4th of July Committee <br /> <br />Gary Gruber, Ramsey Event Promotions Committee, explained that the Committee was started to <br />raise funds for Anoka and Ramsey youth athletic programs to help pay for athletic fees. Last year <br />they had about 3,000 people attend the event and ended up raising approximately $3,000 after <br />expenses. The corporate donations for this year are already looking good. This year the <br />Committee is planning a one-day event on Friday, July 4th. Ramsey Event Promotions will be <br />running the event with the help of Diamonds staff and they will also be looking for help from the <br />Ramsey Police and Fire Departments. Ramsey Lions will be helping with parking and food. <br />Last year the Council was great with waiving any permit fees for the event and he hoped they <br />could do so again this year. They continue to want to make it a large community event with <br />anything that is raised that day going to the local youth. The Committee is planning on a fire <br />works display again, which is the largest expense of the event.
