Fire Chief Kapler recognized CenterPoint Energy as one of the City's long -time partners and <br />indicated that both the Police Department and Fire Department have been recipients of <br />CenterPoint's Partnership Grants. <br />Greg Foley, CenterPoint Energy Field Supervisor, described the reliable service provided by <br />CenterPoint and the Community Partnership Grant program. He presented Fire Chief Kapler <br />with a grant in the amount of $2,475 for the purchase of pagers. <br />Mayor Strommen extended the City's appreciation to CenterPoint for this generous donation. <br />2.02: Receive Funds from Rotary <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood described the restroom project at <br />The Draw and introduced Mr. Kevin Bittner. <br />Kevin Bittner, Ramsey Rotary Club, explained that while a matching grant through the <br />International Rotary organization did not match this project's timeline, the Rotary Club did not <br />want to withdraw support for this project. Mr. Bittner presented the City with a donation of <br />$1,500 in support of the restroom project at The Draw. <br />Mayor Strommen accepted the donation and extended the City's appreciation to the Ramsey <br />Rotary Club for its contribution towards this badly needed facility at The Draw. <br />2.03: Police Department Update <br />Police Chief Way provided an update on Police Department activity, <br />Police Officer Wistrom presented results of the 2013 business safety survey and answered <br />questions of the Council relating to the ability to break down concerns expressed to determine <br />whether trends can be identified. <br />Police Chief Way stated this survey has been worthwhile and explained how staff will follow up <br />with business owners to address concerns expressed. <br />Police Chief Way presented details of the recent trail derailment of empty train cars and rapid <br />response by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF). He stated City staff is trained for <br />this type of occurrence. <br />Fire Chief Kapler stated this was a low -key incident and allowed a good review of <br />communications with BNSF and Anoka County, and other agencies. He stated he is the <br />Emergency Manager and will pursue options for electronic alerts that can be provided to <br />interested business owners and residents. <br />3.
