Ramsey Land Use/Transportation Corridor
4/18/94 page 5
Commercial designation forms a strip along the highway between Ramsey Blvd. and Sunfish
Lake Blvd.
North of this is designated Industrial as far as the landfill area. Much of the landfill area is
designated Open Space. The northern part of the landfill area is designated Park.
South of Hwy. 10, the Puma/Hwy. 10 Commercial area continues approximately halfway to
the river. A scenic easement forms a landscaped buffer between this Commercial area and the
Single Family Residential along the river. This buffer could allow for a river corridor trail to
connect the newer neighborhoods with the riverfront park downstream and with the
Commercial areas. This would contribute to river corridor trails recommended for the Critical
Area. The trail would serve as both a recreational and commuter trail.
Figure 7: Mississippi River Bridge Crossing Connect to Armstrong Blvd.
In this scenario, the river crossing would connect to Armstrong Blvd. The Commercial,
OfficeBusiness Park, and Highway Business designations are similar to the previous scenario.
The landscaped buffer and trail separates the Commercial and Single Family Residential on the
south of Hwy. 10 at Puma.
COMPARING BRIDGE LOCATION SCENARIOS TO THE PROPOSED GOALS
AND CRITERIA
The March 2 study session group decided to develop goals and criteria to evaluate potential
bridge corridors. The consultant team drafted the goals and criteria and the work group
revised them at the April 6 work session. These goals and criteria are:
City of Ramsey Proposed Goals
for Mississippi River Bridge
1. To facilitate the reduction of traffic congestion on TH-10.
2. To facilitate the highest and best use of land north and south of TH-10.
3. To develop Co. Rd. 1 16 as the city wide east -west collector roadway north of
TH-10.
4. To meet all federal, state and regional government requirements in locating and
constructing the Mississippi River Bridge.
5. To minimize the potential impact any Mississippi River bridge crossing may
have on the natural and built environments.
