AREAL. CLASSIC.
August 18, 2011
Mr. Kevin Roggenbuck
Transportation Advisory Board
390 North Robert Street
Saint Paul, Minnesota, 55101
Dear Mr. Roggenbuck:
The City of Anoka is pleased to submit this letter of support for the City of Ramsey's
Transportation Enhancement (TE) Application for a Mississippi River Trail (MRT) Connection
Project.
The MRT is a multimodal trail system stretching from Lake Itasca in Minnesota to the Gulf of
Mexico. This nationally and regionally designated corridor links seventeen (17) National
Parks, and numerous regional and local parks.
This project is a critical link along the MRT corridor. It will complete the segment from
Mississippi West Regional Park in Anoka County to trails and green corridors in Sherburne
County. It will provide a safe transportation alternative for bicycles and pedestrians along this
route and will provide access to local trailways as well as recreational opportunities.
The MRT connects people with the river and communities together. The City's of Ramsey
and Anoka have been working jointly on planning and establishing segments of the MRT in
our communities. We are currently underway on developing the route that links our
communities and connects Mississippi West Regional Park in Ramsey with Mississippi
Community Park in Anoka.
Thank you for your consideration of our support of this important and vital project. If you have
any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
"ei W:ze.
Greg Lee
Public Services Director, City of Anoka
Tel No. 763-576-2781
Email: glee@ci.anoka.mn.us
www.eLanoka.mn.us
Equal Opportunity Employer
MRT- Ramsey's National & Regional Extension Appendix 4, Page 6
