City of
Elk
River
13065 Orono Parkway
Elk River, MN 55330
August 15, 2011
Mark Riverblood
Parks Supervisor
City of Ramsey
7550 Sunwood Drive NE
Ramsey, MN 55303
RE: Ramsey's Mississippi Trail Funding Application
Dear Mr. Riverblood,
The City of Elk River herby expresses its support for the City of Ramsey's application to secure
funding for the Mississippi River Trail project.
The Mississippi River Trail offers approximately 3,000 miles of on/off-road pedestrian and
bicycle pathways for the recreational enjoyment, health, conservation, and tourism development
of river communities, river states, and the nation. The trail runs from the Mississippi headwaters
in Itasca State Park, through 10 states, to the Gulf of Mexico.
It is our understanding that the City of Ramsey is applying for approximately 1.3 million dollars
in federal funding to create a 10 foot wide trail from the Regional Park in the center of Ramsey
along Hwy 10 & 169, paralleling the river, to Elk River and Ramsey's shared border.
The City of Elk River recognizes the recreational value this project will have to our local
community.
Sincerely,
John ietz, Mayor
City of Elk River
Phone: 763.635.1000
Fax: 763.635.1090
www.ci. elk-river.mu.us
MRT - Ramsey's National & Regional Extension Appendix 4, Page 5
