CASE # 2 <br /> <br />REVIEW COMMERCIAL PARK DEDICATION AND TRAIL FEES <br /> By: Leonard Linton, Civil Engineer II <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council reviewed all fees at their December 9, 2003 meeting. 'They asked ~vhy <br />commercial park dedication fees are lower than residential fees and if they should be <br />raised. <br /> <br />Observation: <br /> <br />Staff has gathered information on park dedication fees charged by Plymouth, Elk River <br />and Andover. These cities were selected because they have large areas to develop and <br />fee information was easy to find on their city website. Discussion from the Plymouth <br />Staff and Council is attached for your reference. <br /> <br />The fees are summarized as follows: <br /> <br />Plymouth <br /> <br />Residential fee 2002 <br />Commercial fee 2002 <br /> <br />2300/unit <br />6400/acre <br /> <br />Elk River <br />Residential Fee 2004 <br />Commercial Fee <br /> <br />1165/Unit <br />3000/Acre <br /> <br />Andover <br />Residential Fee 2004 <br />Commercial <br /> <br /> 2200/unit <br />10% of Market value of land <br /> <br />Ramsey currently uses 5% of market value of land. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Commission is asked to consider the information presented a make a recommendation to <br />the City Council regarding park dedication fees for commercial developments. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Assistant Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />P&R: 01/08/04 <br /> <br />?.3 <br /> <br /> <br />
