Case #9: Report from Public Works Committee <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on October 21, 2003 to discuss the following cases: <br /> <br />1) Potassium Street Drainage Concerns <br />The Public Works Committee met with residents regarding their concern over the drainage <br />changes caused by the new subdivision. Staff reviewed the drainage submittals explaining that <br />the higher water levels are not being caused by the new development. Staff felt strongly that it <br />was an issue of ground water not surface water. Staff proposed that a limited amount of <br />backyard fill may make the resident's backyard more useable. There was not a consensus <br />between the residents on this issue. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Public Works Committee and the residents was to discuss the issue again in <br />June or July of 2004 and review the water table levels. <br /> <br />2) Cousider Ordering 2003 Priority Street Lights <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council authorize the installation of <br />2003 priority streetlights. <br /> <br />3) Authorization to Update the Comprehensive Sewer Plan <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council authorize staff to hire Bolten <br />and Menk at a cost not to exceed $30,000 for completing an update to the Comprehensive Sewer <br />Plan. This $30,000 will be funded by the sewer utility fund. <br /> <br />4) Request for Reimbursement for Deep Sewer Construction <br />The Public Works Conarnittee recommended that the City Council reimburse Oakwood Land <br />Development for $36,335 for installation of the trunk sanitary sewer with Wildlife Sanctuary 3rd <br />Addition. <br /> <br />5) Sanitary Sewer Dump Station <br />Staff intbrmed the Public Works Committee that they were looking into the possibility of <br />opening a sanitary sewer dump station in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Public Works Cormnittee was to direct staff to continue researching the <br />possibility of a sanitary sewer dump station <br /> <br />6) Update on Aerial Topography <br />Staff provided an update on the aerial topography that staff has been working on. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmenrtan, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the <br />recommendations of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />City Council/October 28, 2003 <br /> Page 15 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
