CASE # <br /> <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public Works Staff <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, December 16, 2004 and discussed the following two <br />cases: <br /> <br />Case #1 <br /> <br />Update on Park n Ride Facility <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Committee was informed that staff had been working on locating the new park and ride facility on <br />its permanent location within the Ramsey Town Center site. Staff presented a few site plans for <br />alternatives for the future park and ride. It was noted that staff was not looking for a recommendation <br />that night, but wanted the Committee to be aware of what staff is looking at because it will be included <br />in the project memorandum. The Tinklenberg Group is working to try and receive additional funding <br />for the project so that they are able to construct the parking structure rather than only a parking lot <br />initially. Staff has also me with Jim Lasher, a designer of parking structures, and he explained that to <br />design the first level you have to design the entire ramp. Staff is expecting to get a response back from <br />Jim Lasher on a proposed design for the structure as well as the amount of parking capacity. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />No action required. <br /> <br />Case #2: Consider Trail Completion of the T.H. #47 Trail <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Residential areas along T.H. #47 have been greatly expanded in the 'last several years with the additions <br />of the APple Ridge, River Pines, Evergreen Point, Alpine Meadows, Wildlife Sanctuary, and Sunflower <br />Ridge. All of these subdivisions are within the two-mile walking distance to Ramsey Elementary <br />School. The segment of trail from Alpine Drive to the northern boundary of River Pines 5th Addition is <br />complete, except a length of 233 feet in front of 15700 St. Francis Boulevard. A twenty-foot trail <br />easement across this property is needed, however the property owners have indicated to City staff during <br />informal conversations, that they were opposed to the trail extension through their property. The <br />alternate to connecting the end points of existing trail would entail using the highway right-of-way, but a <br />number of issues would need to be resolved. <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council authorize staff to obtain an appraisal for the trail easement <br />needed to complete the T.H. #47 trail connection. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />'3 <br /> <br />-217- <br /> <br /> <br />
