PC c ss # i <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE APPOINTMENT OF FIRE INSPECTOR <br /> Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As a part of the 2004 budget, Council authorized the addition of a building inspector <br />position for the Community Development Department. This position was created by <br />making the half fire inspector/half building inspector position two separate positions to <br />accommodate the growing workload in the Building Department and the need for <br />increased staff time for the Fire Inspection/Fire Prevention program. Staff has completed <br />a recruitment process for the new Building Inspector position and is presenting a case to <br />hire Andrew Schreder for the position of Building Inspector this evening. Staff is <br />recommending that Jerry Streich, current Fire/Building Inspector, be appointed to the <br />full-time Fire Inspector position. Mr. Streich has served in this position since 2001 and is <br />also a Captain on the Ramsey Fire Department. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending appointing Jerry Streich to the position of Fire Inspector. There is <br />no change in pay classification. Mr. Streich has previously completed background <br />checks.
