PC CASE # ~.~ <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE HIRING OF BUILDING INSPECTOR <br /> Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On November 25d~, 2003 staff received Council authorization to recruit for a Building <br />Inspector which was proposed as a part of the 2004 budget. Since that time, Council has <br />approved the 2004 budget, including the new Building Inspector position. This new <br />position was created by making the half fire inspector/half building inspector position two <br />separate positions to accommodate the growing workload in the Building Department and <br />the need for increased staff time for the Fire Inspection/Fire Prevention program. Staff <br />had completed a recruitment process which included 103 applications and seven <br />interviews, Staff is recommending Andrew Schreder for the position of full-time <br />Building Inspector. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending hiring Andrew Schreder to the position of Building Inspector at an <br />annual salary of $42,952 annually (2003 rate). Mr. Schreder has completed background <br />checks and will be completing a pre-employment physical and drug screen on Monday, <br />January 12th, 2004.
