Attached to the Weekly Update <br />is an Invitation to a Presentation and Discussion about Urban Growth, Public Land and <br />Transportation Issues. <br />Council Update <br />Opponents to rail fuel transportation asked the following questions: <br />• if RR routes could go around MN rather than through it <br />• Ask North Dakota to change oil product to something less dangerous <br />• Ask North Dakota to slow production down, less volume through MN <br />September 25, 2019 <br />Fire Department Update. On 09 -20 -14 at approx. 1323 hrs. Ramsey Fire Dept. received a call <br />to an address on 181 Ave NW in Ramsey on a report of a detached garage fire. Mutual aid was <br />called from St Francis and Oak Grove Fire for tankers. Fire was extinguished by crews. Cause of <br />fire is under investigation. <br />Fire Chief Kapler attended a state -wide policy meeting this week regarding fuel transportation and <br />here are some highlights from the summary he provided: <br />The Deputy Commissioner of Energy & Telecommunications, MN Department of Commerce <br />provided these statistics on Bakken crude oil: <br />• Mn has 2.8 million barrels transported through MN daily <br />• 15% of this is refined in MN <br />• About 1/3 is moved by rail <br />• If additional pipelines were built, dependence on rail most likely would not go down due <br />to the increasing volume being processed <br />• Alberta Canada produces about 3.5 million barrels a day, may go as high as 6.4 in future <br />
