Mr. Schnelle stated that it is a u~ique situation and he wants to discuss the <br />matter with Gouncil or Personnel Committee; if the City doesn't move on this, <br />the City could be in a bind in the future. <br /> <br />Council recessed at 8:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman called the special Council meeting back to order at 8:52 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Hiring Of Chief Accountant:. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle asked that the press not reveal names discussed in this case as <br />all of the applicants are currently employed. <br /> <br />Ms. Flint from the Union stated that the exclusion of names would be up to her <br />editor, Peter Bodley. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that he will call Mr. Bodley with the same request. <br /> <br />Councilm~ber Reimann stated that he, Councilmember Sorteberg and Mr. Schnelle <br />interviewed the applicants and were impressed with all of them. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that he thinks references should have been required; <br />some of the applicants change employment every two to three years; what are the <br />reasons for those changes -- firing or progression. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that he knows enough about Mr. Graczyk and Ms. Skarbakka to <br />recommend them for the position with no qualms; he would have to go for <br />references on the others. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated that Mr. Graczyk and Ms. Skarbakka are the <br />finalists in the the review process; Mr. Graoyzk being the number one <br />r eco~mendation. <br /> <br />Motion by Gouncilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilm~mber Sorteberg to hire <br />Mr. Noel Graczyk as the City's Chief Accountant at the following salary <br />schedule: <br /> <br />1st six months <br />2nd six months <br />3rd six months <br />4th six months <br />5th six months <br />Third Year <br /> <br />$29,000 <br />$30,235* <br />$31,478' <br />$32,723* <br />$33,967* <br />$35,253* <br /> <br />69.9% of Metro Mean <br />72.9% of Metro Mean <br />75.9% of Metro Mean <br />78.9% of Metro Mean <br />81.9% of Metro Mean <br />85.0% Of Metro Mean <br /> <br />* Increased by the cost of living percentage for the current year. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilm~mber Reimann stated that Mr. Graczyk is familiar <br />with Ramsey's ~omputer system and considering his education, he will be able to <br />step right into the position and be a benefit to the City.
